Final Score: Arundel wins 37-26

Arundel won its second straight game last Friday night with a 37-26 victory over North County. For North County they suffered their first loss of the season, leaving both teams at similar 2-1 records. Both teams ended up with balanced offensive attacks, but Arundel was able to make a couple more plays than North County to secure a victory.

 

North County offensively rushed for 192 yards, while throwing for another 195 on the night. Outgaining Arundel in yards 387 yards to 375 yards in the game. They did struggle on third down going just 3-11 but did take care of the football with 0 turnovers in the game. The North County attack did produce some big plays both in the air and on the ground. Accumulating plays of 23, 82, and 37 yards through the air. While tallying plays of 66, 34, and 45 yards on the ground. Overall a pretty solid offensive night but not enough to overcome a tough night on defense.

North County’s defense had its struggles throughout the night allowing 375 yards of offense to Arundel. Arundel was 5-11 on third downs, but on a positive note they forced 2 turnovers on the night. This side of the ball did make plays, but the constant pressure Arundel’s playmakers put on them was tough to slow down.

As for Arundel their offense put up 194 yards through the air and 181 yards rushing on the night. Senior running back Jordan Andrews had a strong night rushing for touchdowns of 10 and 12 yards. There passing game was without starting quarterback Austin Slye, who missed the game due to injury. His backup played well throwing for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns. With chunk plays of 28, 22, 25, and 33 yards on the night. The running game took a lot of pressure off Slye’s young backup and led to an all-around balanced attack on the game. The only negative was the two turnovers they committed in the game.

Their defense was not as good as they can be but holding North County to just 3-11 on third down was big. Giving Arundel a big advantage because the offense was 5-11 on third down. Providing the trend of Arundel sustaining drives, North County struggled to. Even with both teams making big plays. Arundel’s ability to sustain two long drives late in the game was key in securing their victory.

Arundel moves onto prepare for a home game against 3-0 South River which should be a terrific match-up. For North County they will look to regroup and game plan for a road game against 2-1 Old Mill.
